I took an Art History Class because I want to learned about art, specially living in Santa Fe where art is in every corner.My art history class is almost over I have learned a lot and I am going to shared with all of you what I have learned and my thoughts, my darkest thoughts… just kidding.

When describing art, we first talk about the medium, which can be architecture, painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, photography… and material of course can be gold, clay, stone (granite, limestone)…

A work of art is a material object so it have form and content.

Line. like geometric,  closed shaped, open shapes and biomorphic

Color.

Texture. Smooth, soft, rough, prickly, grainy, oily.

Space,

Mass. Hollow. hollow

Composition. Is the arrangement of a work of art. Stabled. dynamic

Subject: Woman from Willendorf

Medium: Sculpture (free standing)

Material: Limestone covered with red Ochre

Time Era: Paleothitic

Meaning of this sculpture: This sculpture  represents fertility and it was a tool for non verbal communication to say : “Hey, I am open for mating”
